Riverheart

Background:

A hilly, heavily forested area in its northern region that thins gradually into rolling plains the further south one goes, Riverheart is home to a people who are both highly resourceful and highly cultured. The first settlers in Riverheart came from the east after having been chased by the Vilebranch Trolls of Jintha’Alor from where they had landed along the eastern shoreline of the Hinterlands. Following the river westward, they eventually came to an inland bay that they were able to fortify against the pursuing Trolls. Over the course of time, they settled the bay, and the plains behind it, into thriving consortiums of fishing and farming communities. Many were hesitant to begin expanding into the northern forests due to the fierce creatures that dwelled there, but an abundance of both food and security bred generation after generation of people who became bold and ventured forth. Those who chose not to go gallivanting off into the woods remained behind, and the most wealthy of them became a class of high aristocracy. Though the vast majority of the forest remains uninhabited, trading lodges and hunting communities have been established along roadways, making for a highly effective militia of archers to quickly travel from one area to another.

The Song of Belore is a new philosophical and religious movement that began when a group of artists, songwriters, philosophers, and poets had what they believed to be an epiphany. The details of this epiphany are obscure, but what can be gleaned is that they believe that from thought comes music, from music comes inspiration, and from inspiration comes order. Its adherents have interconnecting beliefs regarding the Titans, the Naaru, Elune (which they often write as E’lune), and the Tauren mythos.

Climate: Humid due to its proximity to Bogwater and Grinning Fox Bay, with hot summers and mild winters. In winter, snowfall is only seen in the northernmost regions of the Duchy, and springtime rains increase as the area warms from winter.
